[Irene RoblesHuerta] Single military members stationed overseas are only authorized to own one vehicle, a car or a motorcycle. This decision can be especially tough if that person prefers to drive one over the other. When it comes time to make the decision of whether to buy a car or a motorcycle, he or she must compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of the following: (1) Price (2) Gas mileage (3) Overall safety of the vehicle and (4) Passenger and storage capability. Each of these vehicles has major differences and each one needs to be taken into serious consideration. 3 2 1 The price of a new vehicle can have the greatest impact on the decision of buying a car or a motorcycle. This is mainly because one must usually apply for a loan, and the more money one is requesting, the harder it is to get approved. A car, being the more expensive, averages $29217. This could be a disadvantage for someone who may have less than perfect credit. If paying less is an advantage, then the motorcycle is the right choice at an average price of $16125. Thatââ¬â¢s a difference of $13092. After comparing the prices of the vehicle, the second comparison one must make is the vehicles fuel economy. 8 7 6 5 4 With the ever increasing price of fuel, the miles per gallon that a vehicle gets is a major factor that needs to be taken into consideration. Over the years, the average fuel economy in both motorcycles and cars has dramatically improved. For the individual looking to spend the least on gas, a motorcycle has the advantage with an average of 44mpg, as opposed to a car with an average of 33mpg. The motorcycle can also be a disadvantage because while you may be able to drive farther per gallon of fuel, one must refill the tank more often. A motorcycle can travel approximately 220 miles before needing more fuel, but a car can go almost 500 miles. This can be an advantage for someone who likes to drive long distances without having to stop for fuel very often. The third comparison one must make is the safety of a vehicle. 10 9 [note continued from right marginâ⬠¦] -2- Running head: Car or Motorcycle The overall safety of a vehicle is a serious comparison that one must make. While the 3 improvements to a cars safety systems have improved every year, the safety of riding a motorcycle have remained unchanged. The advantage of driving a car is that in the event of an accident, the driver and passengers have numerous safety systems that could ultimately save their lives, such as; seatbelts, anti-lock brakes, airbags, and electronic crash avoidance systems. The disadvantage of riding a motorcycle is that the only safety devices the rider has is in the gear they choose to wear. The most important safety equipment a rider can wear is a helmet, neck brace, chest and spine protector, leather gloves and over the ankle boots. Unfortunately, even if the rider wears everything, it is almost certain that the rider will be severely injured or killed in a major accident. The last thing to think about is the passenger and storage capabilities of the vehicle Having the capability to carry both passengers and cargo is the last and most important determining factor in the decision of buying a car or a motorcycle. A car has the advantage if the person has a family or intends on carrying passengers, with the capability to carry up to five passengers, where a motorcycle can only carry one. Also, with the average cargo capacity of 14. 7 cubic feet makes the car advantageous if the person regularly carries any amount of cargo. The cargo carrying capability of a motorcycle is extremely limited to the size of containers that need to be bought separately and attached to the motorcycle. The average size of a container is approximately the size of a motorcycle helmet, rendering the motorcycle useless in a situation as common as grocery shopping. Taking every advantage and disadvantage into consideration, one must ultimately make a decision 2 1 1. as; Use a semicolon to connect main clauses that are closely related. Example: ââ¬Å"John resigned from his position with the university; he has found new employment in another state. â⬠For additional information, visit the Ashford Writing Center located in Constellation. Copyright law and Internet downloading, social boundaries and the Essay
Copyright law and Internet downloading, social boundaries and the Internet - Essay Example Downloading information from the Internet and using them in research papers would be simple and easy. It makes a researcherââ¬â¢s work lighter. It even makes research job funnier and interesting. However, there are ethical boundaries in the process of reusing the information. Developing a paper requires proper recognition of sources and not merely copying the statements it contains and merge it with the new document. There are legal implications, as far as copyright laws are concerned, as to how much from the original work one can use and when you can use them freely without the consent of the authors. Review of Literature Copyright Laws Printed materials whether work of art, literatures, or results of research and other scientific activities are products of intellectual endeavors. Their impact in the society cannot be felt unless they are published and shared. The expression of original ideas is considered intellectual property, and is protected by copyright laws once they are translated into some forms in some way. There are motivations in sharing in fact copyright protection was ââ¬Å"viewed as offering an incentive for the production of artistic, scientific, and other creative content, while permitting the public to access, use and innovate with such creative works.â⬠The World Intellectual Property Organization pioneered the protection mechanisms currently in place. WIPO was first to recognize the importance of protecting intellectual properties by organizing the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property in 1883 and the Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works in 1886.

The Inclusion of Children With Learning Difficulties in Mainstream Essay
The Inclusion of Children With Learning Difficulties in Mainstream Classrooms is Fine in Theory - Essay Example In Ireland the government has taken initiative towards the development of inclusive education in mainstream schools which has yielded mixed results. Background The move into inclusive education was initiated by parents of children with SEN who were concerned with the availability of appropriate institutions for their children. As a result, the Republic of Ireland signed an EU Council of Ministers Charter which led to the promotion of inclusion in schools by the Department of Education. In 1992, the Green Paper on Education highlighted the need to develop educational systems that were inclusive and provided those that were socially, physically, mentally or economically disadvantaged with equal opportunities. The Report of the Special Education Review Committee in 1993 laid the groundwork for inclusive education in Ireland. The reports proposed seven principles for the future of inclusive education which included; all children have a right to suitable education, the needs of the child should be the first priority while considering the route of education, the parents of children with SEN should be allowed to take an active part in decisions about their childââ¬â¢s education, a range of services that include education in a regular school with additional support, Special educational needs should be provided in ordinary schools unless individual circumstances make it impractical, only in extreme cases should it be necessary for the child to live away from home to receive suitable education and the state should provide the resources required to enable children with special educational needs to receive education according to their needs. In accordance with these principles, the White Paper on Education Charting our... This report approves that theoretically speaking inclusive education is an ideal system to integrate students with special needs into the mainstream. Inclusive education not only results in better academic performance by such students but also increased social interaction and rehabilitation for them. Inclusive education results in students in SEN receiving the same education and environment that regular students and thus preparing them for the real word and enabling them from the beginning. This helps adjustment in real life and greater chances of success in the future; it also helps in maintaining social relationships with other children and learning socially acceptable norms of behavior. It also increases a sense of belonging and decreases discrimination. This essay makes a conclusion that Inclusive education for children with special needs is a concept that works in practical life as well but like most other concepts it needs proper regulation and structure. In Ireland, although there is legislation and regulation schools need to be committed to inclusive education and cater to the needs of the students. Teachers need to get professional training and maintain positive attitudes. There should be greater collaboration among schools and other agencies as well as parent and school collaboration. Children should be taught to include their SEN counterparts and view them as their own. Inclusive education is a successful way of integrating special children in society although there are many challenges need to be overcome.

Creative writing skills used by Silvia Plath in her work Essay
Creative writing skills used by Silvia Plath in her work - Essay Example From then, she exuded creativity that she blended with her writing skills, a rare gift she maximizes that gave forth the coveted write-ups that still flood the literary arena to date. However, her early and entire life is blanketed by sorrow and misery. A psychological problem eventually compels her to commit suicide. This essay will tackle some of the skills she managed to use as a writer in the process of doing her work. The bell- jar, one of Plathââ¬â¢s novel to a large extent is autobiographical. The tribulations that Plath goes through in life are chronologies reflected in this novel. By tactfully changing the identity of the characters and places in the novel, she skillfully takes care of the message she wanted to pass across as it unfolded. Her creativity and Witt comes out very clearly in the manner in which she uses Ester, the protagonist in the story to speak about herself indirectly (Karen 130). In her story, Ester becomes mentally ill after going through a thorny life. This compelled her to commit suicide when she sees no hope a head of her. .We are not surprised later, when Plath commits suicide because of the twin reasons that are similar to those that pushed Ester to cut short her life. We therefore conclude that, Plath wrote her life in the novel and she was able to lead her readers to knowing the reasons she finally took her life. In addition, the novel contains many people and events in Plathsââ¬â¢ real life all being a product of her fiction. ... She writes this poem as the only way of ââ¬Å"vomitingâ⬠the bad past encounters her life had just gone through. She used a third party narration to distance herself to avoid being associated to the circumstance that had unfolded (Rebecca79). Plath portrays herself as strong-hearted and ready to bury the bygones of her life and move on. She uses poetry as the only mouthpiece to pour her personal issues without the slightest fear and in the process, alleviate her emotions. The tone she used in this poem is reminiscent of her depressive episodes and indeed, Plath takes her audience in her poem through her the painful wounds in life. The aggressive tone she used in the short stanzas of her the poem ââ¬Å"Mysticâ⬠leaves the readers with feelings of physical pain as they read her poem ââ¬Å"Mysticâ⬠, which is climaxed by the wise use of imagery, like hooks that are sharp and a stinging kiss makes the readers traumatized. Plathsââ¬â¢ selective use of rhetorical questi ons, ââ¬Å"Where is remedyâ⬠is intentional, as she inwardly knows the answer is death (Edward 116). Plath also uses satire in her poem to mirror the rot in the society. Plathââ¬â¢s poem ââ¬Å"The applicant,â⬠which is a complete satire surrounding marriage and domestic- related issues. She carefully uses dramatic monologue and third person narration as a powerful tool in manipulating language and in this regard, critically exposes events bedeviling women in the society. Plathââ¬â¢s two poems ââ¬Å"Arielâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Daddyâ⬠are autobiography in nature. She intentionally used details of her everyday life as a raw material for her art. She skillfully twisted real references and images within her footsteps in writing her poems. This created an avenue for her fans to

Argument Paper on the Safety That Comes with Seat Belts Essay Example for Free
Argument Paper on the Safety That Comes with Seat Belts Essay Seat belts are intended to reduce injuries by stopping the person that is using it from hitting the hard interior things of the vehicle or other passengers also by preventing the passengers in the mid section and next to the driver seat from shooting out of the carââ¬â¢s windshield. There had been many accidents where the driver or the passenger had not worn their seat belt and because of that they had suffer severe injuries. They had severe injuries that they would have to be hospitalize for weeks and even months. In my opinion I feel that it is mandatory, that the passengers and the drivers wear their seat belts. Its not for our benefit its for the safety of them. Seat belts are great safety devices in vehicles today. They save about 9,500 lives every year, but only 48 percent of the drivers have their seat belts buckled. More than 60 percent of the drivers are killed in fatal crashes because they did not buckle their seat belts in 1996. Most drivers say that they drive carefully, but that doesnââ¬â¢t mean the people in your lane on the highway drive carefully. I feel like that its necessary to wear your seat belt. It does not even take that long for someone to put on his or her sear belts. I strongly feel that people who donââ¬â¢t wear their seat belts should get ticketed because itââ¬â¢s their safety we are trying to protect. Even though that a seat belt penalty is only about 50 dollars and 2 points, people still donââ¬â¢t wear their seat belts. As if this penalty is not enough. I feel that the penalty should be more then 50 dollars because if we have a law for you to follow that is meant for your safety it should be more, because like I said itââ¬â¢s a law for your safety. Wearing your seat belt is very important because most of the Traffic crashes are a leading cause of death in the US for people for people who donââ¬â¢t wear their seat belts. More then half of the people that had been killed in 2000 due to not wearing their seat belts. ââ¬Å"We should be allowed to ruin our own lives, but we shouldnt be allowed to ruin the lives of others. So, yes, its tragic when someone dies because he refused to wear a seatbelt, but its much more tragic when a reckless driver kills innocent people. â⬠Exerted from http://www. reason. com/news/show/32805. html I want you to imagine if your son or daughter went to a party where they had alcohol, but your son or daughter decided not to consume any alcohol because they were going to drive home. They did not want to get into an accident. Unfortunately he or she decided not to wear her seat belt because he or she thought that there were no cars and he or she didnââ¬â¢t see the point of it. He or she thought that it was safe outside because it was late and there should be very few cars on the street. She or he thought it that nothing could happen because he or she only lived a few blocks away from the party. Unlike your son or daughter some kids did consume alcohol. They got in a car but even though they did consume alcohol and they were under the influence of it they did remember to put on their seat belts. The driver wanted to beat the yellow light and wanted to drop home his friends faster. He also thought that there should be very few cars in the roads and decided to go for it. Unfortunately by the time he got to the light it had turned red and he still went to cross the red light. Meanwhile your daughter or son was crossing the same intersection and there was a big collision. Your son or daughter rear was hit hard and the car spun around and hit a tree. Your son or daughter then was projected out the windshield and into the sidewalk. The intoxicated diver and his passengers were all injured but not as severe as your son or daughter. Your son or daughter would have to be in the hospital for several weeks or even months while the intoxicated kids would go home with a few cuts and bruises. Most of this could have been avoided if your son or daughter would have been smart and would have been wearing their seat belt. It is in my interest that adults and especially teens should be wearing their seatbelts. A seat belt is sometimes called a safety belt the reason is because the seat belt is used to prevent most severe injuries, which I have just explained that could happen to anyone even those you love.
